Ok I got a 98 Civic with cylinders (PArker 3.25 http://www.universalairsuspension.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=5now the back lays down pretty good and Im on stocks right now and it sits down to the top of the stock honda wheel cover but the front just barely tucks the front tire and I was thinking it should lay just a bit a lower even if not as low as the back and Ive read about cutting out the srut tower for the upper ball joint to come thru but its not hitting the strut tower as Ive checked and thew guy who did the install...now the front cylinder and rear are set at their lowest settings too so thats not it and it doesnt look like the cylinder is hitting or hanging up on anything so anyone know why its not dropping the front as much or is that just as low as the fronts go without a drop fork?

thanks

I used to have a 98 civic laying on cans...

I had 17s on it, and it never laid in the front. The rear was never a problem, it cambered in, but the front did not lay.

I think (and before some of you start hating read the entire post) that it won't lay without some cutting.

I say that based on the cans I had at the time. AND YES, they were adjustable.

I found that after driving around for some time on them, it was best if it DIDN'T lay for safety reasons... but then again, I was like the first car in Orlando on cans AT THE TIME. There were other cars, that were on BAGS.

Overall, my experience with them was they were fun for short trips, but long distance it was a pain, all I had all sorts of problems. And they were bolt in and everything was pretty straight forward.

But like I said, this was EARLY stages of them, they MIGHT have better products out there now.

But that is just my experience with them and my thoughts, take it how you will.

Peace!

As far as WHAT you are going to have to cut, I don't know, but I imagine based on my car, and the memory I have, it would be all of the above and the fender well.

And I know in those cars, there is not much room to move stuff around, so likely you will lose something.

Anyways, like I said, just my experience.

If u cut the top of the strut towers like I did you need to make sure udont cut to much and if u do reenforce that shit so ur towers dont cave in. and make sure to reenforce everything that U cut.. wouldnt go to low with the car... my accord the trannypan and oil pan was the few things that are on the ground so.... watch out that u dont go draggin happy with it.

the thing is is that im on stock tires and Im not rubbing tire nor am I even hitting the upperball joint on the tower so nothing is hitting and the cylinder is set to the lowest position..they are Parker 3.25 cylinders I think it should atleast be hitting but the cylinders are all the way down nothing is physically hitting

If it is the cylinders that are bottomed out, then just make new upper mounts that are thinner, or just bolt them directly to the strut tower (with some kind of bushing between them). Most kits come with huge upper brackets and you can easily gain an inch there.
You can also grind about 1/2 inch off the lip on the top of the bottom fork.
That should help get you down enough to have to cut the strut tower.

MY BUDDY JUST DID HIS GIRLS 05 CIVIC AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THE STRUT BAG SET-UP UP FRONT DOESN'T GO LOW ENOUGH, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING RUBBING OR TOUCHING. IN ORDER TO GET IT LOWER UP FRONT YOU'LL HAVE TO MOVE THE BOTTOM STRUT MOUNT LOWER ON THE CONTROL ARM. THE STOCK MOUNTING POINTS LIMIT THE TRAVEL. I THINK HIS WAS A KIT OUT OF ARIZONA, AIM I BELIEVE. BUT, THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH ALL THE SAME. ONE THING YOU MAY WANT TO LOOK INTO IS SWITCHING THE FRONT STRUT BAG SET-UP TO CANS. THIS WOULD HELP YOU GET IT LOW W OUT MUCH MODIFYING AT ALL, BUT TO GET IT TO LAY ALL THE WAY OUT......WELL, YOU'LL HAVE TO TUB THE REAR AND DO A TON OF WORK IN THE FRONT. OR JUST SAY SCREW IT, AND JUICE IT!!
