anyone ever plan one?? been thinkin about this for a long time but dont know where to start

my brother died from cancer when he was 6 in 1994 and id like to do something to help individual families.... the emotional strain and the financial complications are stagering!!! ive thought about donations to charities which is also on the list but i think it would really make a big impact on a spacific family whit ALL benifits to go twards the family for medical purposes emotional puroses or just a well needed family vacation. id like to do this once a year or more if posible with a different family each time

sorry for the rant but i think this could be very helpfull for those affected....so any ideas or suggestions on how i could get info on doing this would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks

mike

I feel your pain man my stepmom is day by day losing her battle with cancer. Shes been battling cancer for 8 years now and she is down to days left. Most recently she was in the hospital for a few days and they gave us the bad news that there was nothing they could do. She doesnt even remember the hospital stay. The hospice people told us that as soon as she accepted that she is going to die that she would go downhill pretty fast. Well she accepted it yesterday. Yesterday she was up and moving around on her own. Today she spent all day in bed and when she was up she coudlnt walk on her own or even open her eyes. Its been the hardest thing to watch her go through it all and how hard its been on my family.

Anyways...you could contact your local hospital, tell them what you want to do and ask them to put you in contact with hospice care. Or contact social services they can tell you of families in need.

Cancer does suck...I was fortunate that I survived my cancer 9 years ago, but throughout the whole experience I witnessed many who didn't. Because I was only 16 at the time, all the ones I saw that passed away were children as well.

One thing you may want to do is contact your local American Cancer Society. They could help you out with finding a specific family and tell you where to go from there.

I think it's great that you are wanting to do something like this. Let me know when you get something set up and I'll be glad to help out any way I can.
