Painting Dash

I know it's been talked about before, but how do you go about painting the dash of a civic with the vinyl overlay? Am I going to have to harden the vinly with a coat of fiberglass? Or am I able to paint the dash as it? Same for the door panels, it has the same vinyl covering... Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

if you want the smooth fibergla** look you have to take all the vinyl off and sand the plastic smooth then prime and paint, you can spray over the vinyl, just wipe it down with some wax and grease remover first. then prime and paint
