You should never lubricate a VIAIR pump, ever! Despite what you may think, there's nothing inside that will benefit from lubrication. The bearings are sealed, the cylinder wall is an anodized aluminum and the piston seal is PTFE. There's nothing you can add to a VIAIR compressor that will make the piston slide easier within the cylinder or make the armature turn better.
There are repair parts available however for the pumps. Please see below, several typical maladies and the cures for them...
If you are going to replace a piston or piston seal, you should double check the cylinder wall as well since a scratch in the cylinder wall can damage an otherwise perfectly good piston seal by allowing it to rub back and forth over a damaged surface which will in turn damage the piston seal.
If you have problems with a compressor that's not starting and have to use something to tap on the compressor - inspect the carbon brush assembly (they can be replaced.)
If the compressor is not building pressure and is blowing air out of the intake port, you might need a new piston seal, a new check valve or new flapper (reed) valve.
All of these parts are available. About the only things you can't replace with repair parts on VIAIR compressors is the housing, and the armature. Everything else you could possibly need is available.
Hope this helps...
