my buddy has a 91 civic hatchback that he doesn't know whats wrong with it. basically it starts and runs fine for about 2 or 3 minutes then out of no where it just shuts down. he replaced the alternator last week thinking that was it... but its still doing it. i was thinking its the coil but i dont want him spending money on things im not too sure about... any ideas on what it might be?????????

listen bro...if you guys decide to try and guess the problem you will spend a shit load of money chasing it...I've done it trust me its not cost effective and more times then not it doesnt work. Tell him to spend the money and have a pro look at it.

Fuel relay or the fuel pump

yeah what they said^^^ fuel pump relay, its right above the little change holder door on the left of the steering wheel. you can hold it in your hand while you turn the key and start it, and listen for both relays to click. one pressurizes the system for starting then the other takes over for running.

if its not the fuel it could be the wire coming off the altenator into the fuse box under the hood, mine was loose and did that
