Hey,

Ive posted here before about this, and searched but couldnt find what I needed.

The temp gauge in my Dawg is dead. I know the guage cluster is still good.

What I need to know is what tests I need to run to find the faulty part. Wether it be the sender unit, the wiring etc.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Also the sensor on the bottom of my radiator not sure on its name... has only got one pin on it with a wire, and another wire sitting near it which looks like it should also be attached to this sensor.

But this has been like this since Ive owned the truck, and the temp gauge was working fine with this sensor like this before...

So should this sensor have one or two wires going to it?

Any help would be appreciated greatly, as my wiring in the engine bay is like spaggetti and Ive no idea whats up or down.

CheersGregLA minis Australia.

Mine has no wire coming off the temp sensor on the radiator. Where does the wire go from there?

thats not your temp sensor on the bottom of the radiator its attached to your thermostat housing mine had the same problem as yours I just took the wire off cleaned up the terminals a little with some sand paper and hooked it back up, it worked fine after that pm me if you want another sensor I got one you can have for $5 just to cover the shipping

The wiring going to the sensor on the thermostat housing may be shot. Check continuity with a digital multi meter. Run a probe to that wire, then check the connector going to the guage cluster. Might have to try several pins in the connector to find the right one, or none of them may set off the alert. If this is the case, then the wire probably has a break in it somewhere.

My truck had this problem, except sometimes the guage would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Ended up being a break in the wire close to the connector on the sensor. 1 10 cent but connector, a short peice of wire, and another female bullet connector. Worked like a champ since.

the sensor at the bottom of the radiator is the egr switch/ptc heater switch. The temp sender is on the themostat housing on the front/side of the cylinder head.
