I came across a 93 b2200 for sale here locally. Is there anything in particular I should look for before buying? like besides the body and frame being straight and in good shape. Is there anything in particular that usually fails on these trucks? Thanks for any help. I appreciate it.

see when the last timing belt change was. I wouldn't let that scare me away from one, but would suck to have it snap right after picking the truck up. If possible, remove the upper art of the timing belt cover and inspect it yourself. If not when checking the truck, shortly after purchasing....better safe than sorry.

Other than that, nothing I can think of. I loved my 90 model, and love my 86( well if I would put it back together ).

I'd drive a yugo for a week to quash any desires to drive something even marginally fast and to get used to being passed without swearing. The mazda will be like a rocket after that week.

Its like wearing two condoms all day every day for a week and then taking one off to have sex. You'll feel like a wild man!

that's the truck. It looks real clean in the pictures. I'm not all that worried about the motor, says it won't idle right. probably just a crossed wire or something? plus a buddy at work said he knows a guy that's trying to get rid of a 302 with a t56 i think he said tranny

um...........if they drove it home 3 hours "with no problems" why would they change all the things they say they did? HMMMMMMMMMMM.......i would pass on it, personally..

it has the fuel injected engine in it as far as idle goes my 93 was pretty much problem free..... wire broke off in the tank on the fuel pump and the fuel pump strainer clogged up but besides that nothing

Ah, that truck. I have found most people when they don't have a clue what their doing will start throwing parts at it. Mechanics do the same thing, especially when they arn't good enough to keep business up.

From what they said in the auction nothing sounded to fishy. If I wanted something to drive right off the bat though I'm usually not interested unless I can check it out in person.

The timing belt isn't really that big of an issue in these trucks, if it breaks it isn't going to damage the engine and if you have any mechanical skills you should be able to change it in less than a day. I've done it a couple times on mine (not due to failure) and can do it in less than a half hour.

Most problems people have with the B2000 and B2200 come from carbureted models. Never had anybody come to me about an FI model.

Like normal I would do a full tune up (including O2 sensor and fluids) after buying it. I'm sure if it has any other problems we can figure out what it is fairly easily. Worst case scenario I think would be a cylinder with low compression or high leakage.
