im wiring in an amplifier to my stock deck, question is for the turn on wire. usually from what ive known you use the power antenna wire. not being sure which wire it exactly is on the back of the stock deck/ wiring harness i did find the switched 12v turn on wire to the deck. will that work the same as if you were to use the power antenna wire?

yep that will work perfect

i probably sound dumb askin all this but for some reason im just thinking about all this. now you have the 12v straight from the battery to the amp. then you have a 12v switched to the amp. isnt that like working against each other if the amp is always having 12v going to it? i dunno. im just having one of those nights. thanks

you should get a lineout from either peripheral or russound or schosche and it uses the power from your speakers to know when to turn on and has a remote wire coming out of the lineout converter it also has RCAs coming out of it to so you dont have to do a homerun all the way to the headunit

first off yes you will need a line out converter if you don't have one already and second you can just use the ignition feed to the factory radio the power antenna wire only gives you twesve volts for a second or two unless it has a factory amp and it uses that to then it will stay on just use a meter and find ign power for your remote turn on for your amp.

and as far as someone asking about why you need a turn on wire because an amp has to see two types of power a constant and then a ignition to actually turn the amp on and then it runns off of the battery there are some amps now like the new mtx amps that can take the signal from the rcas and that will turn the amplifier on so that way you don't have to run a turn on if you are using a factory radio.

the only problem with using the power antenna wire is that it only see's 12v when the radio is on, if you put a cd in it kills power to the wire. use the ignition wire for your turn on. if you have a factory head unit its always easier to use the ignition that way you know you will have 12v as long as the keys on. and do use a in-line converter for the rca if you running subs. that way it is a low level input instead of a hi level input coming strait from the speaker wires
