I'm trying to find the name of this tool?

I saw on TV, the show Horsepower TV, I think?

That they were using an adjustable jig thingy to mount and measure a tire. It was on an old school camaro or firebird prolly a 66-69 red with a white stripe. And I think on that episode that they were doin some kind of mods on a teal green Honda civic?

This jig? thing was SWEET it was made out of aluminum or cast aluminum and it was adjustable to fit any size rim diameter tire, and it was adjustable for whatever size rim you wanted to use on the tire and then it had a hub in the middle that was predrilled for a universal fit for any lug pattern.

I'm trying to see if any one knows the name of this product/tool? I want one.

This tool lets you put a vehicle on jackstands under the suspension so that you can bolt on a tire that is clamped onto this jig and you can check turn radius, check fender clearance, play with backspacing and see what is the perfect rim measurement to shop for. Of course with this tool/jig you have to have the tire picked out first but, it is a million years ahead of measuring with a stick and all.....

Maybe it was called a "wheel buddy" or "tire buddy" or something? argh, I just can't remember the name......

I know!!!!!

I always figured you had to have a tire sponsor to get a wheel and tire combo lookin SO SICK you could break necks

but I'm tellin ya this tool thing is gonna bust the rim and wheel fitting wide open!

anyone else see the episode or remember any other details so we can try to find some info on www.horsepowertv.com ????

its been out for a few years, i looked all over for it, did some hella research
Unfortunetaly i lost most of the info

But, a car mag editor (cant remem the mag) designed it, made it, marketed it.... then stopped altogether. I guess not bringing in the dough.

I had the guys name, and his house phone #, but didnt want to call the man at home lol ... amazing what you can find on the internet.

anyways, I saw one at SEMA, used as part of a display, but not for that product ... had the freakin box laying beside it. but i cant remem the actual name or find the picture i took of it lol .... if i remem ill look some more tomorow

plugee beat me to it. mount mate looks like a great tool, except I don't think it'll work if your trying to figure out what the backspacing will have to be for a wheel to tuck all the way because it sticks out so far past the wheel well. could get u pretty close to what the exact measurement will be though.

I think Truckin or Sport Truck mag did an article on it a few years ago. damn thing's been around for years, but this is the first I've seen of it since then.

The mount mate looks very similar to what I remember but, I'm not sure it is exactly the same? I remember that the one I saw had a rounded lip where it met up with the tire where the rim would seat on the bead and I definately don't believe that it had that piece of metal sticking out past the fender.

well, if you saw it on Horsepower TV, then why not shoot them an email and ask about it? if they're featuring it then they obviously know what it is and where to get it. and let us know when u figure it out too. if it's something that would work with a bagged vehicle to figure out the backspacing then I'd be intertested in one as well.

I sent Horsepower TV an email last week and haven't heard back from them. I also sent an email this weekend to MountMate asking if their product was featured on Horsepower TV? I have not heard back from them yet.
