I am not sure on a 83, But I know they are the same, as far back as an 84. Hope this helps you out

i think its 84-94 are the same...i know 87-94 are the same for sure...

79-83 is very similar to the 84-95 trucks. The only difference is the spindles, and some slight variations in the arms. Same general idea though. If you swap out newer spindles and arms, you will have the same suspension.

I'm the guy with the 83 toy clip.
The brake rotors ,calipers and spindles are different. The rotors are non-vented on the 80 to 83,but the hub is the same. The calipers won't fit vented rotors because of the width difference between the non-vented and the vented. Not sure if the ball joints are the same so don't know if you could swap the later spindle.

No, the hubs are not the same. The rotor mounts differently. And the newer calipers will not fit the old spindles because of a roughly 1/2" difference in the bolt pattern. I know, I changed the front spindles over on my 80 Toyota. I had to change EVERYTHING. Nothign is compatible. But the newer spindles will bolt up to the stock arms. However, the earlier stock arms are slightly shorter. At least the upper is. You get a lot more camber if you leave it like this.

This is the kind of camber I got with the newer drop spindles. This was with all stock components.

And the lower balljoints were binding.
