Hey all i am new here to the dually scene but i have been doing alot of reading. I just recently purchased a 86 crew cab with a 454/turbo400/under overdrive. I looked high and low for one with no rust and drove 4 hours to go pick it up. Paid 2k for the truck and drove it home! I plan on pulling the 454 and trans and replacing it with a 24 valve 5.9 cummins and an allison trans or a 6spd. But first off i am going to start by taking the truck apart and getting started on the body drop, i noticed everyone is Z'ing the frame 4.75" to get it to lay out on the rocker and using 2x4x1/4" box tubing to beef it all up. Now i am no stranger to metal fab work and welding, but had a few questions, i plan on running milled down 22" 10 lug semi wheels. Should i purchase the wheels first so that any fitment issues can be addressed in the fabrication process? I wanted to run drop spindles and cup my lower arms, I will be towing heavy with the truck 42ft gooseneck enclosed race trailer, what rear suspension setup would be the best, triangulated 4 link or parallel? I will run bag over axle either way-but what bags would be best? I will try to get some pictures of the beast posted up asap! Thanks for any help guys and i look forward to tearing into the truck!!
