I am wanting to get rid of the rear barn doors on my Sub, I want the rear as clean as possible, and the factory door hinges are ugly as hell. I plan on shaving the rear and adding the flip up glass off a Tahoe. My question is would it be ok to use a full skin combo and brace the inside of the skin with tubing, or would it be better to get a actual tailgate and weld it in its place along with a rollpan? Its seems alot easier to use the rear skin combo, but Im just wanting it as strong as possible. Thanks for any help you can give!

Just run lower, middle, and upper braces x it then use full skin combo............

Thanks I thought that would be ok I just wanted someone with more experience than I have at body mods to agree with me.

I'd do like John said. But I would use some heavy tube. Rather than some 1x1, I'd probably use like some 1.5" round or something. Notch it to make the X, weld a piece straight across on the top and bottom, and put the X inside of this. I doubt it would flex much then. Then you can just sheetmetal over that.
