i got a fullsize from my buddy a few months ago, it runs really good, but looks like total shit, everything but the handles are shaved with bondo. so i decided to turn the single cab long bed into a ext cab short bed. ive done a lil research on it. i found out that there the same wheel base. but the frames are diffrent. so im going to pick up some 2x4 and stock floor it while im at it. the main reason for me gettin this truck is so that i can tow with it. what thickness should i get for the 2x4? is 3/16 good enough, or should i get 1/4? is there a way i can have a hid away hitch without having my lic plate in the middle of the roll pan? im also gonna get a external tranny cooler too. what else should i get for it? im plan on running 22's, but was thinking of settin it up for bigger wheels just incase i ever wanted to go bigger. is there anything i need to look out for? i have the cab sitting in my shop right now. so last week i took a bunch of measurements off the cab and my truck, then made a scale drawing of the new frame in autocad, when i get home on my computer i will post it up, get all your guys' feedback. i want to fully design the frame and know exactly what im doin before i take the plasma cutter too it. i also plan on puttin 2 sets of bag mounts in the back, one on the link bars, then some over the axle so when i need to tow i can just move the bags back and not blow a bag. any suggestions?

mine is done with 2x4, bags on the bars would still tow fine. i left the bumper and put a hitch behind the tag, but theres not another way to have a smooth rollpan and have a hidden hitch....

your facts are wrong, the wheelbase is 10" different.
