I put in the 4.3 I used universal transdapt mounts for a toyota. THey work pretty good and you can place your engine whereever you want. Mine mounts to the stock tranny x memeber.

that crossmember Rudys talking about works great im in the process of doing a 350 in mine. I used that crossmember built a tranny crossmember out of 1x3 pushed the motor back into the firewall about 2 inches using a short water pump and power steering pump and bracket. the engine crossmember sits bout 3/4 of a inch higher than my half way drug stock crossmember. it also sit between the steering arm and stock member. I notched the oil pan an inch, running edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock carb and 2x10 air cleaner under 2600I hood with the bracing cut out.

Im just trying to avoid hacking up my firewall..and want something semi-simple to get it in there or i may go overboard..lol

you could probally run a points style distributor converted to hei and short water pump to avoid going in to the firewall but you might have an issue with the hood closing and radiator-fan space.

well there ya go...they musthave re-designed it.

my ultimate crossmember kept the front ofmy frame about 3/4 of an inch off the ground so i ditched it and just raised my stock one, i also sliced up the mounts and raised the motor to keep the trans pan off the gound.
