what do i have to do to my dash before i glass it.

i have and s10 and i want to glass the dash. i have experience glassing but never a dash. what needs to be done to the dash for it to accept the matt and resin? just sand it with 80 or something? i also want to shave the vents, grab handle, and the glove box. what should i use to fill these holes? i was thinking expanding foam and just shave it down with a knife and glass over it but that might be a little ghetto. thanks

just do it like everything and stretch it over the glove box and vents

sand everything down lay fiberglass mat over the vent holes

You could fill the holes with foam if you want, its not like it is structural or anything ghetto would be doing so for body work, I've used 80 grit to get glass to stick or you could use 36 grit or something to be safe, but make sure you clean it real good, you never know if someone used armoral on it

clean it, sand the heck out of it with 36 grit to be safe ( the more scuffed, the better)and clean again before you put fiberglass on it. i did my dash for my first time and it turned out great. i shaved my glove box with cardboard,( dont know if thats good or not) i cut it to fit, fiberglassed it and then fiberglassed while it was on my dash, i havent had any problems. but foam sounds good.

thanks for the replies, also i was wondering if on the parts that i do not have to fill holes do i still need to use matt or fiberglas$ cloth or can i just use resin on the parts i just want to fill the texture and make it hard?

if there seperate from the fiberglassed pieces you could just sand them and use high build primer on them, wet sand and paint them

dang joel dash looks real good,looks like you know what your doing

i definatly WOUDLNT use 36 grit. clean it w/ thinner then spray some adhesion promoter then hi build primer.
