bag mounts used to be 3/16th, I remember the first bag kit I ever ordered from Stage 1 was 3/16th. Then places like SD.com started making everything out of 1/4 so everyone else started doing it to.

If you are making it yourself, and like someone else said, just be sure to gusset them well and you will have no problem. Usually its the weld that breaks before the part anyway, so make sure your welds are good.

You can have overkill on suspension, all these huge heavy tube arms on the market add "unsprung weight" to the front end.

I think its best to use the metal close to the thickness that you will be welding too..example; 3/16 frame..use 3/16 metal for brackets..but thats just me..

Why would you do that? ^^^^^ I would use 3/16" as minumum for the brackets. I normally use 1/4" plate.

I like you... you have some common sense that unfortunately a lot of people lack these days... haha...

IMO, there is such a thing as overkill. 1.5" Diameter 4 link bars, 1/4" steel all over, etc, etc... 3/16" will work plenty fine for just about any daily driven mini truck or car. A properly gusseted and reinforced system will last ages without problems if installed properly.

Hotrodders and other minitrucks have been creating air ride suspensions for over 20 years, and only until the last few years when suicidedoors pop up that people started saying that the beefier you are the better... while their products are rock solid and they do a good job at making them, its simply not needed IMO for everyday joes... imho...

How many product failures has Suicide Doors had ? I don't think it is a fact of them needing to build the products overkill, I think they look at the yahoos doing the installs and figured they would take their product out of the equation if and when the said yahoo has a suspension failure due to poor design or execution)

This is so true, to many "yahoos" are tryin to "build" their own shit when half of em dont even know how to mount a damn air tank, or wire in a air management system, let alone build an entire balk half, or control arms, etc., u guys no what im sayin here

i know exactly what your sayin. they read a tech article, then think they can go and bag anything. a lot of them dont take time to ask questions, or dont care how it looks. like when i first got started in the scene, i asked a fuckin shit load of questions. if you look through my old posts you will see. i didnt even know how to flip ball joints. but if i didnt know it, i asked. and a lot of these people out here have the built not bought stickers on. i understand they want the pride in sayin that they did it there self, but if you cant weld, its not a good idea to pick up a welder from wall mart and learn how to weld on your truck. i learned like that,(accept i got a $600 lincoln electic welder) but that truck never left the garage in one peice again. it was hacked, i learned from it, shit happens. IMO theres nothin wrong with takin your ride to someone who knows what there doin, or someone that can do the welding for you, and you do the rest.
