So I am wanting to do a IRS in my 620 but the track width is only 53" and the only other IRS i can find close to that size is the 510. with that said I have found other ones that are like 57" etc. has anyone shortened the halfshafts or cv shafts to get the IRS narrower so it will fit?

the jaguar and corvette-like rears with halfshafts are like shortening a driveshaft, as long as you can tackle all the linkages. cv shafts can be done, but costly.

when my buddie did his supra he had to have new shafts machined at a shop if I rember they cost him 400.00 for just the shafts every thing else he made.

i don't want to spend that much to have the shafts shortened i hear they are just steel (the halfshafts) so you can cut them and weldem just as long as you make sure the are PERFECTLY straight i can get an entire 510 IRS for about 300 i just wanted to see if there was a more cost efficient way to do it

I was looking for pics of that Orange frame the other day. Does that guy still have a profile?
You can pic up a supra rearend for about the same price. It probably wouldn't cost that much to have the shafts cut and welded as opposed to having new shafts machined.

yeah the shafts aren't the only thing i would have to shorten ie cross member and what does a supra IRS measure mounting point to mounting point my truck measures 52.75"

i just looked supra is 60" wide i would have to narrow it 7 inches that is kind of a lot dont ya think?

For all the work you would be putting into it, I don't know of many people that would bother using the crossmember. All the Supra rearends I've seen in trucks are setup similar to that orange frame. Do you know what the width is on a Mazda Miata?
