We are looking at bagging an f150 for a customer. He wants it layed out on 22s.
We can't really go check out the truck because he lives nearly 10 hours aways, so I have a few questions...
1) Gas Tank-Will it be in the way of running a tri-4 link, and does it hang below the frame rails..if so, can it be raised or will it hit the cab?
2) Control Arms- He has 2" DJM dropped lowers. Will this work to lay it on 22s? Do any mods have to be done to the uppers, or even the lowers? (i have heard something about using chevy BJs)
3)Underhood relocation-How much wiring and other junk has to be moved and relocated from under the hood to ditch the inner fenders
4)Firewall tubs-Needed for the 22s?
5)Crossmembers- Any that are gonna hold up the frame? (carrier, transmission etc)

I guess thats about all for now. the truck is an extended cab. Tires are 305/40r22s all around, which I think is just plain stupid as well.

1. my tank is barely above the frame rails, but i have a parrarel 4 link, so not sure how it would be w/ a triangulated...

2. not 100% sure, but i think just the djm arms is enough.

3. Battery, fuse block, washer fluid res., 1 plug on pass side and 3 plugs on driver side. some need a new booster, but some dont, sounds like you would w/ those tires!

4. you'll need tubs, i'm 1" or less from the frame laying and had to hammer it in just a litte to be safe...

5. trans xmember hangs lower, $70 for a new one one grant customs site though!

bigger tire equals more work. new inner tubs battery relocated, throw out the winshield squirter. move the computer, it is located on the passenger side. relocate hood cable, relocate big 3 plug wire harness. angle brake booster away from wheel, 94 i believe explorer booster, or just do the hydraboost. 2500 bags will fit but if you wanna run a 2600lb bag it will require notching the frame.
as far as the suspension itself it is all a personal prefference. you can do flip the lower balljoint and replace with a chevy or chrysler, or you can use the djm's i think with that tall of a tire u are gonna have to use the belltech spindle with the djm arm. to lessen the camber u can raise the upper mount or extensive sells a bolt up relocater. and i'm not positive on the amount u would have to move it up.
the gas tank will drag you can either section the tank or cut the top of it off where it sits under the cab, and cut a little more for the rear crossmember. kp 6 link is the easiest way to do the rear. the gas tank does get in the way if you do the 3 link but you can design it so it doesn'tt get in the way.
that's all that my brain will alow me to think of right now i'm sure there will be others on here to help u out more

Hey my crossmember laid i just dragged it flat but i think grant makes one that bolts in that won't drag cuz i ended up dragging through mine completely after awhile. the gas tank sat lower than my frame so i had a fuel cell built cuz i rail the piss outta my truck. i used DJM upper and lower but got tons of camber, a little too much. Autocore raised the uppers and changed the angles on them for the body drop and now i have pretty much no camber. and notched the frame for the lowers when laid out. i had to use a brake booster out of a 96 explorer and extend the brake pedal rod. computer plugs all gotta be moved or pushed through firewall.. tub depends on size of tire. cruise control and washer fluid box had to go. I just saw 305/40/22 - i'd have the customer get a smaller tire like a 265/35. I switched to a 255/30/22 for my 4" BD. You have to notch the cab and stuff too for the driveshaft. i have the KP six link, DO NOT.. DOOOO NOTTTT BOLT IT ON!!! the bars and brackers will drag... raise it up about an inch, inch and a half, and weld the brackets on. i bolted mine in and dragged and almost went through all the bars causing more work to be done while at autocore.

Lets do some math.
305-40-22 is 31.6 tall
275-45-20 is 29.7 tall stock for Harley trucks.
I built my truck with 30" of tire under it. And it rubs all the way down in the front. I have 3 1/2 inches of subframe cut out and tubbed. The fuse block is relocated and the cruise control also. The 3 plug wiring harness is stock. The brake booster is boxed around. The battery is moved up. I have stock washer fluid, air intake, and intercooler overflow.
I have the DJM front kit. I didnt used the uppers because it made my wheels rub my fenders with the corrected camber. The lowers work great. My truck lays gastank 1" from the ground all the way down. The 4 link is custom to work around the gas tank.
Never had a crossmember problem.

I would prolly try to talk him into a 265-35-22 or a 295-30-22.. I have 24s with a 275-25-24 and pics posted. If you need some pics email me or im me.

lol these guys are right, trans xmember will hang lower than frame and hold it up. if ur just baggin u can run a triangulated four link if u put top bars to front
bunch of harnesses on each side, will have to tub firewall... break booster will have to be changed or relocated

i have tri 4 link on mine we cut the corner off the gas tank and made a new piece from sheetmetal and welded it up and tested for leaks be carefull though let it sit for a few days with some water in it . and test it for leaks after should be fine just make a few passes with the welds and if not sure keep welding some more i'll get some pics if you need them of my gas tank but it's hard to take it under the truck when it's on a lift next time i'll snap some for sure

Can you use a Re-7 slam bag in the front with the kp cups?
DooredFord   +1y
just run a 6 I get enough lift with it and i'm doored... a 7 you will have to notch the frame a littel for it not to rub.
