I have an 01 Dodge Ram with the 5.2 in it. I took the stock gas tank out cuz I drug it too much and got a 20 gal fuel cell, mallory fuel pump, and mallory fuel pressure regulator. the first few months it worked fine, then my truck started runnin crappy. I did the key thing and checked the codes and it showed multiple cylinder misfire and #s 6 and 8 not firing. So i did what anyone would do and put a tune-up on it new plugs, wires, cap and button. I erased the codes and reset my regulator back to 55 psi which is what I was told to set it at and it idles at about 600 rpms. well it is still misfiring on those cylinders, any ideas?

i think your pressure is wrong. my buddy had similar problems w/ this dakato r/t. call the dealership & see what the pressure should be.

the mallory pumps are way too weak, the only external pump strong enough for the dodge engines is the hypertech 145 power pump

did you have to run a regulator on yours? and do u think thats y the computer is reading that #s 6 & 8 cylinders aern't firing?

there are a number of things i would check along with that...

Blown intake plenum gasket will cause pinging and detonation in cylinders 7 and 8

clogged cat can cause a bogging down effect under acceleration. (there is also a recall on this and it will cover aftermarket one if you have already had to replace it)

the best plugs byfar have been the autolite 3923 and at the same time there is a tsb about plug wire routing causing issues.

i would also look into the fuel presure and see if that may be the issue.

We put a fuel cell in a Yumuggn's durango with a 5.9l and the recommended fuel pressure on it was 48 psi! Try turning down your fuel pressure so it doesn't flood the cylinders and cause a misfire!!
