i've been having problem figuring out what the timing need to be set at on my 76 shortwide. anyone know? i've been told 4-5 and i've also been told 7. thanks.

assuming its a stock motor or just a mildly cammed motor, 7 is a good number to hit at idle, 4-5 is kinda low, and u dont want it too advanced then ull start gettin pingin noises from average grade fuel not firing properly

thanks. right now i have it at 5 but it's not running like it used to. i'll give 7 a shot.

u wont hurt anything advancing it that little bit, so giv a shot and c

Mine's at 9 w/ a cam also. advancing it won't hurt, but it can make a difference w/ performance
