My Taco was parked for six months while I worked on it. now it wont start. I thought the gas went bad at first, but I drained and put fresh gas in and still nothing. I found that I have no spark. I have one week till dropped on arrival show, and no money to take to shop, please give me ideas. I was thinking igniter or distributor, but I dont know how to check.

take a plug out and ground it to part of the block. Have someone turn the motor over. If you see spark, then coil works...Try out on every plug. If you had bad gas and kept trying to crank it, you might have fouled the plugs...???

there is a small ignition box bolted to the fire wall or on the inner fender.. if that is not bolted or at least grounded it will spin all day have no spark and make you pull your hair out trying to fix it... its on the passenger side has a plug with 4 wires in it and controls the spark. looks very unimportant.that or check the ignition fuse in the fuse box under the hood.... that is just somethings I have run into

I did pull a plug and grounded it and cranked. No spark. plugs are fouled a little, but not enough to not spark. Is the coil part of the distributor or can you some how only change the coil?

I relocated me ignitor from my fender to on top of that metal box thing thats part of the intake. its painted black. so it might not have a good ground. So the ignitor bracket needs to be grounded? Ill try grounding it. Thanks dunkybutt. If it works you'll be my hero.

no problem my buddy removed it when he body droped his taco and left it sitting for two weeks because he couldn't figure out what the problem was and that was it.. I did the same thing but it only took me about 2 hours of double checking stuff to figure it out...
