Wow, that is amazing I didn't know aluminum was magnetic....
Only way to check aluminum for cracks is either with dye penetrant, like Zyglow or with X-ray.
The F2 blocks have a high nickle content and are extremely hard to tear up I doubt the block is cracked and there is only one place in the head where you can get a crack that will leak oil into the coolant.
Was the head checked to see if it was warped before putting the head gasket on? Also how smooth where the deck and the head before installing the gasket? If they both arn't perfectly clean it will leak like a siv.
The heads found in the 12 valve engines will bolt up but the intake that fits that head will not fit in the engine compartment of the truck nor will the distributor off the back of the head. The truck manifold and distributor will not bolt onto it.
Heads that will bolt up to both the block and the stock manifolds should be anything from the 8-valve F2, or the 8-valve FE found on the B2200 and B2000. The only difference between either one is the casting number, same goes for the head gasket.
