Could i just get a B&M shifter that used to go in older cars? how hard would that be to mess with the tranny linkage? thast my main concern is the linkage if i knew it would work with a b&m shifter i would definately go that route

You can get the B&M Quicksilver shifter. I helped a buddy put it in his truck. It is built for the ford AOD. it comes with all the brackets and calbles you need. unless it is the newer style AOD then you will need the extra install kit that is listed on the side of the box. works great and looks cool other then the ball handle but you can change that out for the T handle and it looks hella better. gonna be doing something simialar with my truck when i buld my consol. you can also use the MegaShifter if you want the lockout handle. Links below.

How hard was it to switch the links and stuff from the column to the floor...? about how many hours did it take you to do this ?

rangers dont have an AOD, its an a4ld different and even crappier tranny. but it could be made to fit. i dont really mess w/ auto trannys(im a manual guy). also comparing ford to chevys is like apples to oranges. just cuz it bolted on the chevy, it will more then likely have to be fabbed up to teh ford.
