does anyone have the pinout / color code for the 7 way trailor plug? the guy who owned the truck before me had the other plug so "ho-chi-min'd" that i just cut it all out and went back to stock and desided to start over...
the plug has color code listing for the 6 pins that go around the outside, but dosn't have a listing for the center part...plus i want to know what color does what....so if anyone has it and would like to share it i would like to know

The center is ground black

I'll take a look at mine and get ya the color rotation on it.

The lights are green, yellow, brown, white.

The center is black and then there's heavy red, blue for electric brakes. I couldn't get the rotation without taking mine off and tearing it apart.

thats good enough! it's labeled inside, just wondering what each one of them do.

You can't go by the colors if you are using a 4 wire for reference. For some reason 2 of the colors have to be switched to make it right. I don't know what brainiac came up with it but I have a chart in the garage I will try to remember to bring it up to the house tomorrow and let you know what each one does. I don't think the center is ground though. I think it is the second accessory wire for things such as winch or something like that or for reverse lights. The ground is one of the outside ones. I only use 6 of them on mine and that gives me everything needed, brakes, heavy gauge 12V, ground, tails, l turn, right turn. White is ground, not black.

thanks

here is what the previous owner did....he took a standard 4 wire trailer hookup and bought one of the "plug in wireharness splitters" and then added 2 brake controler wires to it. one is blue and the other is black. the thing was a complete mess. i'm probally going to have to pin it out with a test light to make sure everything is correct from the blotch job the previous owner did!

There should be only 1 brake controller wire. It will be blue.

comming from the back of the brake controler is 2 wires, both run to the back. donno what the 2nd one does then??!!!!

My center is definately ground... a flat 4 doesn't have a ground, the ground is through the hitch.

This is what it says on my wiring diagram from Pollak that came with my female end.

1-White - Ground
2-Blue - Electric Brake
3-Green - Tail
4-Black - Battery Charge
5-Red - Stop and LH signal
6-Brown - Stop and RH signal
7-Yellow - Extra Aux Circuit Center Pin

On 4 pin trailers white is ground, it is usually ran to a screw on the tongue. They use White, Yellow, Green and Brown.

Illegal Regal Your center may show ground but one other should also should be ground. Either someone wired it up wrong or I have seen some that corrode together on the inside and can really mess with you.
