Having problems with my 2000 F250 Diesel. Damn thing just decides to not start about once every month or two. This weekend I drove 5 hours to Oklahoma and 5 hours back and every stop it started back up just fine. Went to my girlfriends parents house and jumped her lil sis's car and it started fine after that. This morning I wake up to go to work and its completely dead. Tried to jump it... nothing, still dead. Any Ideas?

by dead, do you mean nothing happens as in every thing electronic in you truck is not working(dome lights, door buzzer...).

Dome light comes on. I turn the key and it clicks and something under the dash makes a buzzing noise. The radio wont come on unless I turn the key backwards. When I jumped it the dash lights came on.

THE BUZZING YOUR HEARING IS THE FUEL PUMP WORKING PROPERLY. SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PROBLEM MAY BE THAT THAT YOU HAVE ONE OR TWO BAD BATTERIES, OR A LOW CHARGE ON THEM. YOU MAY HAVE ENOUGH VOLTAGE TO WORK THE FUEL PUMP AND GET SOME LIGHT INSIDE THE VEHICLE, BUT, AS YOU KNOW, DIESELS TAKE A TON OFCRANKING AMPS TO START UP, A LOW BATTERY COULD BE THE CAUSE OF YOUR PROBLEM. IF YOU JUMP THE TRUCK AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS WORKED, AND IT OBVIOUSLY WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN, THE PROBLEM LIES IN YOUR CHARGING SYSTEM. I'D START WITH THE BATTERIES. CHARGE EM, AND MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE ANY LIGHTS STAYING ON IN THE TRUCK (I.E.- THE GLOVE BOX LIGHT IS NOTORIOUS FOR STAYING ON BECAUSE THE SWITCH ON THE GLOVE BOX IS PRETTY CHEESY.)

Between the GPR, GPs, Fuel Pump, and actually cranking the truck, they need a pair of batteries (and terminals) in very good condition. I see the exact problem you're talking about on PSDs every once in a while..... generally it's not a bad battery but corroded or loose terminals. Go clean and tighten all terminals and try that for a while. Should be the ticket.

Actuaaly its none of the thing above. Take your battery cables off let the truck sit a minute or two reconnect your terminals and it will start right up. trust me it will work

check your oil also, if its low it wont crank either.
