ok bagged the taco yesterday and everything went smooth it gets good lift and has very little pinion change. so heres whats up when it is raised up about 12 in there is a grinding noise form what i think is the carriar bairing at the back of the cab. the pinion is dead on so its not that what could make it do this????

does it push your driveshaft in when it lifts?

no not that i can tell so if it does its very small amount

Almost sure its the driveshaft pushing into the carrier and tranny, I have fixed several like this. The best fix is to get a teloscoping driveshaft made.

Lift the truck up to the height that makes the grinding noise. Get under there and unbolt the drive shaft from the dif.

If it is pushed so hard against it you cant pull it off then you know its your problem.

mine would grind only when at full lift.that was because I replaced the factory shocks which I set the rear up.The new shocks allowed it to lift 2"more but that was at full lift. Also have you shortened the drive shaft??? I did have a friend that shit two bearings one after the other but the crazy thing was the truck was bagged for nearly 3 years before the first sign of problem.

my fullsize does the same thing, I guess its the driveshaft we are gonna try and fix it, its when it its coasting with little tension when i get on it, it stops.
