Andrew (Rooster 632) which meds is you dog on? My Pit bull I just recently found out has elbow dysplasia and they gave her samples of meds to see how it works on her. Just trying to figure out what your dog is on, and if it works for her. Thanks

What my dog takes now is called Previcox. It seems to work pretty well. She really only limps now after long walks or out running and playing.

I also give her glucosamine. It is a bone and joint supplement. I use the brand that is made for humans and sold in the vitamin section at the store. It is cheaper and she is big enough to handle human size doses.

Cool thanks for the info, maybe my dog is big enough for the human glucosamine.

Glucosamine is also what I give my three legged lab. It made a huge difference. She can now run all day with my boxers without stiffening up. I get mine from Dr. Fosters and Smith though, never tried the human stuff

Russell I cant believe you have a lab that is afraid of water. I've had several labs and currently have a chocolate lab who is 7 months old and weighs a little over 70lbs. He loves swimming since the day we got him. I have him on food that has Glucosamine in it. Anyone think that he should be getting a pill on top of the food. I wouldnt have any other dog since I have my daughter.

yeah ///RA it sucks. we took him in the water when he was younger and he was cool with it until he was swimming around and then couldnt feel the ground under his feet. then he freaked out and turned around and came back to shore. now that he's a lil older we're gunna take him back out to the water and see what he does. we think he was just so scared cuz he was so young! we HOPE anyway.

Yeah I would give it another shot. Our first lab was a little scared at first but the more we exposed him to it, you couldnt get him out of the water. He would walk right into my dads pool and do laps and get out. Funniest shit I've seen.
