I bought a temp gauge for my Mazda. Where should I plug it in? Side of the block or bottom of the radiator? It has a metal thing with a long wire and then 2 wires a ground and power for the light?

Enter Russ D....

If it will thread in, I would think at the thermostat housing....since that is where the factory guage gets it's signal from.

I couldn't tell you if the sender/probe will thread in though.

take off the upper rad hose housing where the original sender is, drill it and tap it to fit the new sender, which is a gm type.

You can put it at the bottom of the rad, but keep in mind that it will read stone cold till the thermostat opens. This can be really bad if the thermostat sticks, you'll read cold and the engine will be killing itself.

What do you mean at the upper radiator hose? i dont see anythhing to screw into. I screwed it in to the bottom of the radiator. What were those two wires and what does it do? you seem to be the Mazda guru

Bottom of rad: Its a sensor for the factory ECU, according to MadLow. Keep in mind its not working properly, your engine will overheat before you ever know if the thermostat sticks shut.

The upper rad hose housing, where the thermostat is. Its on the top of the motor, right where the upper hose attaches. Some trucks dont have a sender there, some trucks have two!

I took the thermostat out and tossed it. ill check when i get home. SO should I plug the thing back in at the bottom of the raditor? The thermo worked befor on the dash but when i took off most my vacs and cut some wires. think its there somewhere the wires?

taking your thermostat out is a bad idea. your truck will either:
A. not be able to maintain a stable temp
B. run cold, resulting in poor gas milage and premature wear/corrosion
C. overheat due to water traveling through the radiator too fast.

Ok I put the htermo bac in. How hot is the truck supposed to run at?
