You need to make sure you have preouts on your headunit

I had one a LONG time ago wired in w/ a line out converter deally and it sounded fine. I only tried it cuz it was in a fiero, and had to be in front of the seat under my legs... worked good for the space I had, but otherwise i'd recommend a regular box setup.

I have an audiobahn 10" bass tube in my daily..sounds great. Ya dont need pre-amps on your stereo, it comes with all the wiring you need, and its even pretty cheap on crutchfield. Im sure you could find it cheaper on ebay too..

I have put quite a few differentstyle of bass tubes in vehicles. It all depends on what you want as far as sound. They dont usually produce alot of bass but if your looking for just a lil bit of something to fill the low end frequencies then go for it. The main 2 brands I have used are Bazooka and audiobahn. And like dude above said you dont need preamps to use them. You can easily add them to your existing system using the high input.

I hooked my 6.5 bazoka(sp?) bass tube up to my ranger just to hear what it sounded like. Bass is not my thing any more but I am really happy with the sound I get in my truck after I put it in. I just ran the wires from my stock back speaker to it.
