ive been running no mufflers on my 93' crown vic. the other day i put my mufflers back onfor inspection, and the throttle acts like theres peanut butter in it, it takes the car like 7 seconds to kick at full throttle. with no mufflers, the car is acctually qiucker and it dosnt have any wosre gas millage then before. I guess i just want to know, is it ok to run it wide open if its acctually helping the car?

btw its 2,1/4" duals with and h-pipe, the car only has a k&n and polished heads

As long as you're not running open short headers in cold weather you'll be fine.

It will not be a problem.
I have ran open headers on my Mercedes for about a year now. The only problem I have had is waking up the neighbors and scaring alot of people.

I run an electric cutout on my Ram. All you gotta do is hit the switch and it will open up and not use the muffler. Hit the switch the other way and close it up and the exhuast goes through the muffler. Loud when you want it and quite when you want it, just at the flip of a swich. Mine is made by QTP and runs about $200 for the Y pipe, wiring, and everything you need.

the delay is due to back preassure. Depending on your engine back preasure might be good for somethings but not for others. If you want the engine to last a while longer and keep the neighbors happy the mufflers will help. If you care less about the engine life and the neighbors, run it open headers.

In most of the cars you will see a performance increase when taking off the restrictions like mufflers, intakes, ect. If the "law" catches up to u and tells you it's too loud, the make "hi-flow" mufflers for just about any aplication. The mufflers will probably give you 90% of what you feel now but quieter.
