actually, you are getting power with the power and ground hooked up, the remote just turns it on, its always getting power. if you hook those up and happen to hit the mwith your speaker wires, you're able to blow the subs if they are hooked up, you are able to blow fuses or anything if a screw driver hits it, etc..
i always hook up my RCA's, wire up my remote and put the headunit back together in the dash, then wire my sub woofers up. then my ground, then run my power wire and make sure i leave the fuse out of the holder, when its all hooked up, i go put the fuse in the holder, turn the key on and start dialing in the amp.
unless you got some bad ass digital designs subs or the re mt sub because you can plug those into wall outlets and they wont die.
I pluged my 9500 15 into the wall and all it did was rattle all my pictures in the house GOD I LOVE DIGITAL DESIGNS if they had a vagina i would marry those shits....
