mazda stock carbs are computer controlled. so you can't just go yanking them all off without some consequences unfortunately

best solution is to get a Weber carb or a Holley 5200.

a brand new weber 32/36 DGEV would pretty much be a bolt-n-go type deal since it will come with everything you need. but it's 400-500dollars. the holley 5200 needs adaptation depending on which model you get. they both have the same mounting pattern so the weber adapter plate will work with the holley 5200.

if you really want to cut the fenders now and drive it, just tie the lines up and extend some vacuum lines. you can just stick the charcoal canister somewhere near the firewall on the pass side.

don't forget the fuse block is on that side too, keep it as dry as you can

you can have cut out fenders and still have all the vacuum stuff. My last truck was like that before I bought a Weber. It all fit, zip tied and nice, on a bagged and bodydropped truck.

And Mark is right, the factory carb is computer controlled. In fact thats the only thing the computer in the kick panel is for! If you just take off oall the vacuum lines and solenoids the computer will think a massive failure of sensors has occured and will default to a "limp-home-rich" mode which, over time, will ruin your engine.

thanks for the help. what all can be removed with a weber carb?

every vacuum hose to the fender, the wire harness that runs above that fender, the computer. Mine looked like a big ol slimy octopus because I took it all out in one chunk instead of diconnecting the carb or this or that. I danced on it for a while then put it in the round file, my truck idled, accelerated and ran about 1000 googol times better with a weber carb.
