I have a fosgate 2 channel amp I'm wanting to run 2 single voice coil speakes and one dual voice coil what do I need to do to get this to work right. I don't know much about speakers but I was told the I can run 2 dual voice coils or 4 single voice coils but I have a box 4 my truck for 3 12's so I'm wondering if it would work

you dont want you different subs off the same amp, a dvc is going to draw more power off the amp than the svc. depending on whichfosgate amp is also going to determin which subs you'll get

well to answer your question you can make them work, however, i dont think you are going to get the sound you are after. Now what i am about to tell you is concidered REALLY ghetto (in my eyes atleast) but it works.

Option 1. wire 1 single voice coil(SVC) sub to the left channel and the other single voice coil to the right channel. THen wire your Dual voice coil (DVC)in series and then bridge it to the amp.

Series

Option Two. You can run your 2 SVC on one channel in parralel or seires, and then your DVC off the other channel. But make sure you rum both sides the same. Meaning your wire both SVC in series to one channel and you wire your DVC in series to your other channel...or both SVC in parallel, and your DVC in Parallel.

I aggree with NVRDUNIZ, i wouldnt advise using w different subs off one amp, nor in a set up. BUT thats just my opinion. I just wanted to answer your first question, that yes it can be done cause its your ride, do what you want. AND to answer your 2nd question, with what 3 subs your can run together off of the 550.2 ya got, 3 of the same type of subs. I had 3 JL 10w3D6's running off my RF 800.2 and they sounded pretty good. BUT i run CV now and they nock way harder than those JL's BUT take up 3 times the room at least. GOod luck with it mang....peace

got to know the impedence on your svc's and your dvc. yes it can be done.
if 2 svc @ 4ohm, wire in series to get 8 ohm. then wire (if you have 4ohm)your dvc in series to 8 ohm and then bridge the lead from your 2 svc's in paralell to the lead from your 8 ohm'ed dvc to your amp to present a 4ohm bridged load. your amp will see the draw from one channel but i still dont advise to do this.

the way i run mine when i run a odd number would be run 2 togeather and the other 2 togeather to one channel and then bridge the last one everyone says that ends up causing a problem the only problem i have found so far would be not having a big enough amp im running 5 fosgate 12" T1's to a 1400 watt 2 channel boss and thats how I have it ran also if you run a dvc you can run it the way I ran my brothers L7 1 side to one channel and one side to the other channel it is insane for a lil 10

you need to find out the max ohm load of the amp. if you run an ohm load way too low on the amp, it will burn it up REAL fast. It can be done..and my best suggestion to you, is to find out the ohm load of the amp, and then you look for speakers based on that. once you find them, get the wiring diagrams off of the speaker companies website according to the ohm load. everything else is just following the drawings.

you need to look for the lowest ohm load the amp can take not the highest. PLus amps will clip if wired to an ohm load lower then they can take.

All amps clip weather they r running at too low of an ohm or too high or just right. Clipping is audible distortion which is controlled by matching the gain on the amp to the signal of the radio's rca's

never said high..but okay. what i'm saying, is if he runs too low of an ohm load, it'll jack the amp up. I wasn't talking about clipping ricky. yes, i agree with you. i just think he needs to find out everything he can about the amp, and get the right subs for what it can put out safely.
