disassembling a ford oval emblem

hey guys, refresh my memory on how to take a part a ford oval logo to be able to paint the inside to match the vehicle. i know you cant take apart all of them but give me some insight. james i know you will know.

Hammer and chisel, sorry no clue.

i have heard that putting it in some boiling water loosens up the gel and you should be able to peel it out of the chrome base. but i also heard that you cant put it back unles you have some new gel to pour back in. i dont know much about that part, but about removing is what i have heard on many different sites.

boiling water is what i did

pry itgently apart w/ a small flat blade screw driver after the water. getting a new one makes it easier than tryint ouse an old one.

you need to make sure that the glue is loose enough because if it isn't it will rip the ford logo. I used a pocket knife to take it apart.
