As you may or may not know i wrecked my truck last spring. I am have everything fixed on it so far. My air bag light is on because both bags deployed during the accident. How can i turn off the airbag light? Can i get an Oms resisteror from radio shake and soder (sp) it into the gauge cluster?

I am sure that your truck is OBD2, all you have to do is get someone to plug up the little hand computer to the plug under the dash and they can erase the code.

I work at a Dodge Dealership. They won't and can't erase it. Not that they don't want too. The code is stored in the air bag module and in the PCM. That why i thought if i had a resistor put in it would fool the air bag module and PCM into thinking it was still installed.

get a mopar performance pcm or better yet send it out to krc performance or hughes engines and have them do a custom reflash. not only will it get rid of the codes but they will also remove torque management and get some better shift points but it will also give you a few ponies.

Why can't you just disconnect the light.

Take the light bulb out!

U can take out the light...however, on mine, it caused my check seatbelt light to come on...not really sure why...but thats what happened...also, try takin out the fuses....other than that, i dont really know..

they can erase it, but only for a second, and the computer will see that both bags are missing/fired and trip the light again. You cant tell the computer to stop looking for an air bag. You can measure the resistance of a GOOD airbag and use a resistor of that value across the two airbag terminals, after which you can reset the light. It sounds to me though, that if you dont have airbags and you dont plan to, just pull the bulb as was suggested.

The bulb is long gone. The same thing occusrs when you install a custom steering wheel. I'm just looking for the ohms of resistence. I have a 5spd so a Mopar Performance PCM don't help with the shift points, though it is on my list of performance mods Even with a different PCM the air bag light will come on because the code is also stored in the Air Bag Modual under the dash near the steering wheel. Maybe i should just gawnk that modual out?
