Whats up Guys, Im having mad problems with my bd, The cab is body dropped and everything and everything is good but the damn steering shaft.. Its hitting the stock control arm now on 18's.. Tubulars are in the future for the 20's but Im not sure it would make any difference.. Also Im putting a 350 In the truck and the header wraps around the shaft. What kinda problems am I gonna run into there.. Im so confused with this, I need some help.. Its a square body by the way.. What did yall do to the shaft.. And please only answer if youve done it.. thanks fellas.

This is my friend Chris' truck. The headers that wrap around the steering shaft will not work if your truck is body dropped. I believe these are stock camaro 305 exhaust manifolds. As you can see there is minimal clearance between the steering shaft and the upper control arm even with tubular arms. He's only running 18's and its close.

steve were you gonna of set the motor twords the passenger side? i think you can do it up to 1 1/2" that might get the shaft outa the way enough to run some type of header but if not i got a guys who can custom make you some headers but it wont be free

what you do is move your steering colum up, it will leave it in the stock position if you just gotta move the holes/bolts on the firewall up.

I have headers on mine BD with the 350 I put a camaro colum in it the camaro one is a little longer so you can move it in a little I also moved it towards the passenger side a little and put a universal swivel on it. I used to have stock arms but when I laid it out the arms hit the headers the tubular don't.it was the hardest part of the build.I f you have any questions email me at fullsizes10@yahoo.com
later chris

man im surprised nobody mentioned it but they make block hugger headers for the s-10 v-8 swap and when they say hugger they mena it you should have no problem out of the and you can get those headers in any finish you want and to fix your steering shaft go to a rod shop tell them your problem and believe me those guys might be old but they can come up with some crazy stuff i hope that helps
