just run a new wire to it i think ur new pump needs 12v to operate so just a run a new wire 10ga with a relay and a switch to it

low voltage will not cause something to burnup. some even have voltage regulaters so it pumps more when ur on the gas and less when ur not. make sure ur fuel filter or line is not cloged or kinked cuz this will burn up a fuel pump

Low voltage can cause anything electrical to eventually burnup. Because it struggles to get the voltage it needs. Think of it like tryin to suck a milkshake through a small cofee straw versus a large straw. With the small one you will get tired, and if you keep going eventually you may even passout. It works basically the same way.
With that said, it could be that the factory fuel pump required less juice to operated than the one your using. Like the last guy said try to run larger wire through a relay. Theres no such thing as wire to big for anything electrical. Also make sure you have a good ground, even if you have to ground it 2 times.

I've decided to get like 20' of 10 gauge wire, a 12 volt 20 amp relay, and a toggle switch and just run a completely new circuit. Gadget at URDUSA is supposed to give me a call tomorrow to give me his opinion. Thanks for the help guys!

You are mistaken if you think that running something low on voltage will not cause it to burnup. That is probly the quikest way for an electrical part to fail.If i were you,i would wire that relay to your ignition switch then wire up that pump.

hey.. i had the same problem only i was burnin up high dollar race fuel pumps.. take your fuse box under your hood apart and look in the back of it..(dont be scared, a tiny flat head screwdriver sticks in little slots, you'll see them dont be scared it snaps apart and snaps back together).. i'll guarantee on line 2 aboout the third fuse down, the back of it is all charred. i've got a brand new truck that was doin this.. i never found out why it was charred up or kept burnin pumps, but i ran a new wire and relay.

Cool...I'll check the fuse box out.
