after measuring my motor to build mounts for it i realized that im not gonna have as much room as i was hoping for and the front of the motor will still be sticking up above where the hood would close. most of that problem is because of the damn intake. (22re) what are any ideas that i could use to make that work im going to have to modify the hood to get it too close but i want to try to modify the intake as much as possible so the hood wont have so much of a bullnose (what i call it) effect on the front and more of a sloped back like stock look. any ideas?

look at my post of clearing a stock hood with a v-6.... if I pulled it off then you should have no problem

maybe so. but with z on the front. those wont do me much good. ive measured and most i can get with my already modified oilpan before i come in contact with the front suspension crosspiece is about and inch. unless i make a crazy ass cross brace the goes up towards the front then over in front of the oilpan then i can lower it up to 2 inches. but ill still have 2 inches sticking up above the hood (imagining that the hood would close) and most of that is because of the damn intake tube. 3.5 bdrop 1.25 z'd frame modified oilpan cant get hood on. priceless grrrrrrrrrrrrr

If you're only on the rocker, I dont see how the motor could be sticking out 2 plus inches. Plsu, there is like a 1" cowl in the stock hood in the front and center. But, I offer 1" and 1.5" mounts. Those mounts are on a few trucks that lay rocker, with a stock hood, and have like 1/2" of clearance. They have sectioned pans, and a modded front crossmember.

Also, on my truck, the motor is dropped an equivalent of 1.5". The pan is about 1/8" off the ground laid out, with 1 1/8" cut off the bottom. My crossmember goes behing the oil pan. It unbolts in case I ever need to remove the pan.

Basically I'm saying its doable. If I can fit the virtually same motor with a different intake under a 25" tall hood, I believe you can as well.

Also, you could build a new lower intake manifold to drop the whole upper intake and throttle body in one shot. Thats what I would do if I were going to door a truck with a stock hood.

JASON,I MIGHT HAVE A SOLUTION,I GOT A COWL HOOD FOR THAT TRUCK THAT MIGHT JUST CLOSE OVER THAT BEAST,YOU SAY YOU GOT 2 INCHES OVER THE FENDER LINE,(HOW FAR BACK FROM THE LEADING EDGE),LET ME KNOW AND I CAN CHECK IF THIS COWL HOOD I GOT WILL WORK. GOOD LUCK D.(DANSHOODS@AOL.COM)

after doing some more measuring and alot of just blank staring at it. i figured that after i rebuilt the crosspiece under the motor. and new brackets and leveling out the motor i should be able to get pretty close to 2 3/8 inches of drop. which if im lucky the stock hood mighttttttttt close ...with trimming the inner support. it might need a small bubble in the hood right up front where the intake is though.
