I'm posting this for a friend. He has a `97 Hardbody that he has taken the dash out of, and painted. When he put it back in and plugged everything back in, his speedometer, tach, and odometer doesn't work. Also, his battery light now stays on. He's checked all his connections and obvious fuses. Someone told him to take his negative cable off for about 15 seconds (something about resetting everything) but that didn't work either. Did he miss something? Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know Nissans so I told him I'd ask around. Thanx, everyone.

hmmmmm... I wonder if something got shorted when he was unhooking everything? That could be an issue. Hope that helps?

The only thing he can do is check & recheck all the connections. Didn't he label everything he unhooked? Did he drop the cluster?

He didn't drop the cluster. I originally asked him if he had disconnected the battery totally before he did all this, and he told me no. So, I was thinking kinda the same thing, that he shorted something that always had power running to it. But, I don't know what he could check and/or fix.

its been like a year since i put the cluster out of a 97' in my truck so im not 100% on this, but for some reason im thinking that 2 of the plugs on that back of the cluster are the same size. id double check how he plugged that thing in.
