will a motor from a 91 b2600i FI bolt up and fit into my 89 b2200 Carb?

cuz the 2.6 runs way better than tha 2.2.

Thanx N|ck

fit yes, bolt up no.

You will need to change: the body harness, the engine harness, the gauge cluster, the motor mounts, the transmission, the transmission crossmember, the driveshaft, the fuel lines, the gas tank, the radiator....

well you get the idea. most does bolt in except the engine mounts, you will need to cut them from the donor truck and weld them into your frame.

the 2.6 may run better, but it is also more fragile. The heads on the 90-93 2.6 have a known defect that is not covered by the dealer, they crack. All of them. If you ever run it hot, if it ever ran hot ever in its lifetime. It is not a question of "if", it is a question of "when". I owned three 2.6 efi trucks. Two I bought with cracked heads, one cracked while I owned it. Buying salavge yard heads is not a solution, they will eventually crack too. There is an upgraded head available from the dealer, at a cost of 900 dollars. Bare.

do a KIA 2.0 swap. 130hp, bolts up to the engine mounts and your transmission. You will need to change the fuel system to EFI.

yes, kia swap is the way to do it. the 2600 had lots of plusses, but lots of minuses, and not worth the trouble of the swap, even if the motor is free. Also the computers on the b2600i like to mess up also. I have rebuilt enough of them to know that it was a bad design.

thats what i needed to know. Thanx Russ D and Phil

im glad theres people on here with know-how on whats works and what doesnt.

ill just stick with tha 2.2 with tha weber then.

im just nervous about the dizzy. cuz i have the 2 b2200's that have the same problem.

when they warm up they Die.
say u are drivin around for a lil bit and u come to a stop sign. ya push in tha clutch and the truck dies.

but it will start right back up and run for a while then do the same thing again.

any ideas as to why it does that?
i think its tha dizzy.

ive read that the the bushings go out in them and makes the timin or somethin, go out of wack.

Thanx again,
N|ck
