Will a distributor from a 1992 B2200 work in an 1988 B2200? The 92 is fuel injected, but i think the distibutors are compatible..just want to double check.

im sure it'll drop in. but the problem you're going to have is that the 92 dist has an electronic timing advance from the ones i've seen, and that the 88's dist that was carbed has a vacuum advance.

so you wouldn't have an advance, not really good.

russ or someone else may be able to clarify if it will drop in, im not sure

yes you are right Mark, the electronic advance dizzy wont work in the carbed truck. Unlike the carb trucks, the EFI truck ECU's actually do something!

OK well after calling 15 autowreckers I tracked one down for $90.
I am hoping this is my problem...I took the thing out yesterday and found the housing on my old one was almost in 2 pieces. something inside was out of whack and as it was spinning it was cutting through the side of the distributor, so needless to say the inside was full of metal filings.

One thing I forgot to do was mark the rotor position when I took the damn thing out (idiot...yeah i know)

How do I go about putting the new one back in properly now that I lost the position...?
