this isnt really a "bagged" truck question but it has something to do with suspension so i thought id run it by you guys.. i just bought a 93 toyota pickup for cheap to drive this winter and im prityt sure ill probalby bag it after i get done my hardbody project.. however when i got it the passenger side front was sitting on the bumpstop the guy i bought it from said the torsion bar just needed to be cranked up... i havent gotten a chance to look at it yet, but do you think the torsion bar would adjust that low to set it on the bump stop? or do you think the adjustment nut might be broken? thanks guys.. sorry for the "odd" question...

My mazda was sitting on bumpstops when I bought it. The torsion bars were totally removed and the front wasnt bagged. I dont knwo anything about toyotas but I think its possible yours just need to be adjusted.

kool man thanks for the reply... this truck is supost to be "stock" cause some old dude had it.. so im guessing its either broken or needs to be adjusted, i just wasnt sure if the torsion adjustment would allow for it to sit on the bump stop... (also, when/if i bag this do i remove the torsion bars all together?)

When I had My toyota i had them cranked low enough to sit on the bump stop.. It might just need to be raised up a little

yes, it can be low enough cranked down to lay on the bump stops

and yes, you can remove them when you bag it.

bringing this back from the dead... i got a chance to work on the truck this weekend... i replace the shock and got underneath the truck and cranked up the torsion bolt as far as i could and it doesnt seem to affect it much.. its still sitting low on the right side... its almost as if im out of adjustment... is there anything that needs to be done to the two bolts on the front end side of the torsion bar that might help?

Leave the front bolts alone- there's no adjustment there. If you have the torsion bar tightened all the way up and it's still low on that side, you may need to take the bar and adjuster out and re-index it. There are splines on the torsion bar that match up with the adjuster, so if somebody took it out in the past they may have put it back in incorrectly.
Before you go to all this trouble, make sure nothing is bent! a bent control arm could be causing the issue- check that out first!

sorry it took me so long to respond, but what does re-indexing intail? im just guessing that the bar is all flexed out and needs to be replaced?

reindexing the torsion bars is just taking the adjusting end right off of the torsion bar, turning the bar, and turning the adjustor over a few splines
