Ok... so im tired of this thing smoking like mad at startup when its cold.

Whats the best fix for this?

What do I need?

How much is it gonna set me back?

Rings and hone job. Rebuild the head. Good to go.

its just your head, your oil seeps past your valves while it sits, than you burn it off when you start it back up. you can try that "no smoke" stuff if its not too bad, but valves seats are your issue for sure. 99 percetn of the time its the head

Corey if it is you valve seats like ^ he said (I think I've heard that before about Mazdas) you're looking at around $100-$175 to have it repaired. Find a shop that specializes in head work. I found a shop here that does a lot of Toyota stuff, and they quoted me $125 to make oversized valves fit. Said its like an average valve job.

is this true with the import trucks like the mitsu's and shit and if it continues to smoke also?? ( just rebuild the head?)

most of the time its true. if its oil smoke. than yes, if its water if your head gasket. just depends really. but mazda's are natorious for smoking

smoke white or bluish?

has the motor been opened up lately?

white is coolant and blue is oil

on mazdas, the valve seals typically begin letting oil through when the motor has high mileage. this is the SEALS, not the SEATS, if it's the seats, it'd run rough as well since you would not have good compression in that cylinder.

also sometimes when the truck has been sitting for a good bit of time, the rings will get stuck. the oil ring around the piston being stuck on a position may let oil blow by. this happened to my dad's truck, did the seafoam trick and you good to go. carbon buildup may also cause the rings to stick. both letting oil blow by into the chamber. these two things usually cause a truck to smoke while it's running, not just at the beginning.

but since it's just on start up, it's your valve seals mostlikely
