House Design Software?

My dad is a carpenter and wants to create houses on the computer so he can show people what the finish project will look like. What are some good easy to learn housing design programs?

He doesn't need to get into great detail, he just needs to show the general layout of the house and floorplan. Thanks!

Don't they have some software like that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot that makes it pretty easy and then makes a 3d model rendering of it.... Hell, I think its on their commercials on TV.... Lol

I have no idea we don't have either one of them in town the nearest one is about 2 hours away. My brother works at Lowe's so I will ask him

If not, I want something easy to use because I know I will be the one actually doing the work in the program. Old people....

google actually has a 3d program that would be easy for u to learn if u have no experience with 3d
its simple to use it has a tool bar thats self explainitory and u can use any textures u want and import textures as jpeg or gif

i use it for making counterstrike map entities and i designed a building easily
