What is the best way to remove clear coat from a set of aluminum wheels. I was trying to find some type of gel remover at the parts store but wasn't sure what would work best. I just traded for a truck and the wheels on it are pretty bad looking. The clear coat is all cracked and the aluminum is oxidized. I want to get the clear off and just polish the wheels for now.

Thanks for the tips guys but I need something low buck. The wheels are some older 15" five stars and anything more than a few bucks is probably worth more than the wheels themselves. LOL

Sand it off, I used 220 grit on my escalades, worked like a charm. Hopefully you have a DA and compressor, take a long time by hand, lol

You can get aircraft stripper at checker for like 7 bucks a can. take em to a car wash, spray them, wiat bout 20 minutes and spray them off. then polish them and your done.
