I'm pretty much finished with my engine swap. I've just put all its fluids in. Somebody told me to make sure I "prime the oil pump" before I try to start it. Has any body heard of this and how do you do it. Or is there another way to pre- circulate the oil. Other than turning the crank, f*** that.

yes this is common practice. goto auto zone and rent an oil pump primer. basically its a distributor with no gear on it. you install it like your putting your distributor in, and turn it with a drill. this turns the oil pump, and thus primes the pump, puts oil in the filter, and pre lubes the engine.

your doing an engine swap, is the motor new? never been ran? because priming the pump, and pre-lubing an engine is usually for brand new never ran motors with no oil in the pump at all.

for a swap, im sure theres plenty of oil already in the entire engine.

The motor was run before I bought it but its been sitting for about two months now. I guess it should still be ok. Thanks. I saw what you are talking about in my haynes manual I just didnt realize thats what it was. Ha Ha Blonde moment.
