If you take off the air cleaner right after running and with the engine warm, you can immediately tell if the choke is open or shut. If the two plates over the barrel are shut, your choke isnt opening. If they are open and you can see all the way down to the butterflies, then it is.
Now, if the choke is still open when its COLD, that means someone disconnected the choke and thats why a) you have a disconnected linkage and b) thats why its taking forever to warm up.
