IT SHOULD BE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRANMISSON YOU SHOULD SEE A HYD LINE GOING TO IT SHOULD BE HELD ON WITH 2-3 BOLTS TAKES ABOUT 20 MIN TO FIX

my friend had a 97 same motor and tranny...the slave cylinder is located in the tranny housing

so if its mounted in the trans housing does the trans have to come out to do it?

yes

so u gotta pull the trans then take th ebell housing off and its mounted in there man thats so stupid how longs it u=sually take to do this?

The bell housing is built onto the trans, but yeah you have to take it all out and the slave Cy. is mounted around the trans input shaft. Shouldn't take more than a day to take it out and put it back in.

You DO NOT have to take the tranny out to pull the slave cylinder!!! It's on the driver side of the tranny. I believe it has 2 bolts holding it in. Be careful when you pull it out. The shaft that pushes to shift will fall out. I hope you see this before dropping the tranny!!!
