I am building a frame for my 2002 Dodge Ram right now. I would like to do something different for the rear suspension. Nothing crazy but a little different than normal. I am going to runa wishbone with bags on bars. I was thinking of swopping the two. Putting the lift bars on top and the wishbone on bottom. This for a couple reason. To make mounting my bags a litte easier, just put a crossmember in. Also, since I have a cast axle housing so I am running steel tubing over the axle to mount the wisbone link. This sticks up higher than I want it to, since I want as much bed as possible. Any opinions on the wishbone being on the bottom would be helpful. Thanks

Doing what you aretalking about is not a problem. The narrow point of the triangulated bars (or the single point of a wish bone) is what "sets" the roll center. There is a suspension design called the Satchell link that is built the way you should do yours. If you are not careful you can create some very strage steering effects. Do your homework on "rollsteer" and "rollcenter" especially "roll oversteer."

There is a book called Suspension Engineering, by Herb Adams that you should buy.

Abraham, that's exactly how I want to do it. I like your setup, nice work. I figured it would be the same, but I wasn't sure. Hey Max I got your email of the suspension write ups. Havent' been able read them all, but what I looked at was awesome. Thanks alot man. You do sick work. One day I hope to be on your level. Keep up the good work. THanks for yall's help.
