So I have an old F-150 and I want to use the original frame, but I want to get it sandblasted. Does anyone know of a Place in Maryland (preferably Washington DC / Metro area) that does automotive sandblasting? Any info would be appreciated.

If you are going to paint the frame and have it looking nice for show I would not sandblast it because it will leave pits in the metal. You will need to bead/media blast the frame.

It's the same thing just a different abrassive. Sand will cause it to pit and leave it looking ruff. If you wanted to do it yourself you can get a sandblaster gun for around $10-30 and get the abrassive for around $20-50 depending on the grit and lbs.

The only problem with doing it yourself is it will be dirty unless you have a booth setup to blast it and keep the abrassive contained instead of going everywhere.

i think you should go with what jance said.

it actaully depends on what type of sand. There is a type of sand for heavy duty blastin and a finer sand. I sand blast semi-frames at work and the only pittin it does is when there are huge scabs, which isn't from the sand. I just blasted a boat trailer, there was no rust, guy wanted a color change, no pittin at all. The media blast is also a very good way to go. Depends which way you perfer.
